The various aspects of this tree represent Amir’s complex personality and conundrum surrounding his redemption. The bare trunk of the tree represents the lack of opportunities to grow in life for Amir, as the guilt surrounding his past events plagues his decisions and ability to succeed in life. The leaves branching out atop the tree represents the ideal life with boundless opportunities that Amir is striving for with his redemption. Finally, the bright bottle lodged in between two branches that lead to the leaves represents Sohrab and the opportunity he presents to Amir to redeem his past, standing out amidst the monotony of the trunk and life and lying at the gate to success.

I like how you made sure the bottle stuck in the tree had a significance. The image could also represent Baba, who in the beginning tried to make the best out of a son that wasn't like him and to organize the situation that involved Hassan also being his son.
ReplyDeleteI liked your metaphor! it was interesting how you used the bottle in the tree as part of your paragraph. You could also say that the leaves sprouted after a long, barren road because he finally somewhat matured towards the end of the book, thus allowing him to gain redemption.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you chose one subject for your metaphor and you created really insightful ideas based off of that. I really like the fact that you chose to explain that the trunk of the tree represents Amir's lack of opportunities and what he is closed off to and the leaves represent the possibilities that are out there for him. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe language used for this metaphor is very clear and the perfect amount concise! Along with the idea being portrayed very well, I completely agree with the comments above—the metaphor itself is very insightful. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI like the the metaphor between the trunk of the tree and the top. I feel like its very representative of Amir and it shows how in the beginning of his life he didn't grow much but as his life continued he grew more as a person.
ReplyDeleteI like how you took a picture looking up the tree not the whole tree itself. I feel like picture shows more of who Amir is.
ReplyDeleteI like how you made this concise, and I think your image represented your ideas well. I especially like the bare trunk metaphor because as trees grow upwards, the bare trunk is also the tree's past. Nice job!
