Truth and Trust
In our photograph, the water represents the truth about Amir’s life in Afghanistan, as he has craved, or been thirsty for, it his entire life. Similarly to the bottle in our image, Amir has needed to wait his whole life in order to clearly see the truth. When Rahim Khan told him of his true relationship with Hassan or when he sent him the letter about all that he had known, Amir finally begins to see what had been hazy his whole life. The blue plastic surrounding the water bottle is representative of Amir’s relationships, especially with Baba. If Amir were to snatch the water bottle instead of patiently waiting for the fog to clear, the plastic would collapse in on itself. Similarly, Amir feels that if he were to accept the truth about Baba and Hassan, his image of Baba would be destroyed.
I like how important parts are in bold to make them stand out. One other connection that I see is connecting the plastic surrounding the bottle to Amir's feelings of neglect and insignificance.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting and unique metaphor, because it relies on what will happen after something is changed rather than just what's in the image. I also see a connection to Sohrab, where he is represented as the bottle and the plastic around him is his trauma, isolating him from the outside world.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you chose to talk about small details of the image such as the condensation in the bottle and how that relates to Amir and his experiences. I think that the plastic surrounding the bottle could also represent how people around Amir had a lot of influence on his life and he had to adapt to please them.
ReplyDeleteI really like the metaphor that you used, it's very creative and I think it is a great representation of the truth that Amir craved his whole life. I think the plastic around the bottle could also represent his ignorance and the barriers that made it difficult for him to see the truth.
ReplyDeleteI like how you chose the foggy water bottle to represent Amir and his situation since it takes a while for the fog to clear and it also takes A WHILE for Amir to have a clear mind and have a better understand of his surroundings.
ReplyDeleteWoah, this is a really creative metaphor! At first I thought that this image was going to be a sketchy connection, but you definitely made it work! Very clever analysis, great job!
ReplyDeleteI like your metaphor, it is creative and I never thought of water bottles and pool dividers in that light before.
