Unsatisfied

A failure
and a disappointment

Unflawed
and successful

My mirror reflects my downfalls
Eyes puffy
and carry bags stuffed with absent sleep
My nose is painted scarlet and
my throat feels as if there is a belt around it
Tightened to the last loop of the strap
I feel scattered and separated
It's pitiful

Anyone could tell you they were beautiful
Eyes gleaming
with passion and purity
Their button-like nose
was strategically sewn onto their doll face
They are blissful and beaming
It is desirable

I’m laughing at their joke
but
I did it more for them
than for me

They are laughing at a joke
Their aura flows around the room with authenticity
I can’t help but smirk too

I just want to be happy again

I just want to be as happy as them

  1. I like how you set it up almost as two different sides instead of just making it lines on one end of the page. It really helps get your message across. My favorite part is how you play on the idea that other people can pretend to be happy and you want that but they may be feeling the same as you on the inside. I like the stanza "I'm laighing.../more for them/than for me.

  2. I really liked the line "my mirror reflects my downfalls". You were able to poetically personify the mirror while getting your feelings of being unsatisfied with yourself across.
