Why must it be that by human nature
I’m not inclined to have the ideal human nature?
I can’t even wake up.
I’ve been chained down since the beginning.
Every time I get up and try to stand,
I realize I was never actually standing,
As if I have no balance.
I run only on dreams,
running from my dreams,
running as if in a dream,
As if I’ve forgotten how to balance.
Moderation, self-control, restraint, balance
All too familiar,
Yet I may never know what they mean.
I’m only dreaming after all.
Sometimes I just think I wasn’t
Meant to be,
on my endless, rolling journey.
Sailing on my
Bed of Stars.

I really appreciate how you formatted this poem and really paid attention to the details of where each line was. I also really liked how you used personification and metaphors and I feel like they added a lot to your general idea. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI like the repetition in the middle where you talk about running and dreams. I also like how you capitalized specific parts of the last two lines so that they connect back to the title.
ReplyDeleteI love this! The way you wrote it made it sound very raw and depicted, and the emotion in it is very clear.
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting. Your hook is so interesting and it caught my attention right away. What inspired you to pick this topic?
