Universe

Everything begins in nothing.
Nothing begins in everything.
There is no cycle, only constant growth
This growth heralds all good and evil,
Light and dark,
For it fosters all.
While the cycle is not inherently rooted in either light or dark
Or good or evil
It is easy to see how it all grows.
The light is powerful, great, and caring.
The dark is ever present, and restricting, but freeing.
The good is constantly against evil.
The evil is constantly against good.
There is nothing to stop this growth,
Except for the inevitable heat death of the universe.

  1. I really enjoy how you only nonchalantly indicate that this poem relates to the metaphor of the universe until the very last line. It gives it a nice twist!
