One with the Tao

One with the Tao

Relax your tension,
Relieve your pain.
Resolve your conflict,
Release your suffering.

Flow like a river.
Let the current direct your path,
Let the current push and pull.

Feel yourself float.
Float away from burdens,
Float towards weightlessness.
Float away from emotions,
Float towards emptiness.
Float away from reality,
Float towards abstractness.

Once you are free of the mortal world,
You are ready to become one with the Tao.

  1. This poem is great, nice job! I love how much your poem resembles the traditional poetry about the Tao. I really appreciate how you played with the idea of repetition throughout your poem, and the consistent theme of water is very fitting. I also love some of the words you used, such as abstract. It really paints this kind of indescribable picture because it really is abstract.

  2. I really liked how your poem was simple, yet powerful. Like Maddie C. said, it was very similar to the traditional excerpts of the Tao that we read in class. The comparison to the river also made the poem feel very serene, and I thought it was a great way to resemble the send across the message of going with the flow of the Tao.
