One With the Water

Flow like the Tao,
Like the rolling waves
You will rise,
Yet you must fall
You will progress,
Yet you must succumb to failure.
Never fight the tide.

Flow with the Tao,
Let your mind become one with the water.
Seemingly simple.
But vastly complex
Churning with potential,
But with serenity like sleep.
Listen to the waves crash onto the shore,
And then gently recede.
Slinking down to the void,
In retreat.
Follow the Tao,
Or you will
Sink.

  1. I really liked how you stressed the importance of understanding failure and the importance of embracing it, and how you tied it all together with the personality of water.

  2. I liked how you described the Tao as being water and how in fighting you die but in letting the water take you, you float.

  3. I love your use of contrast like in the Tao. It helps emphasize the relation to the Yin Yang and makes the poem really cool to read!

  5. I really like the comparison with the water. That's a good "flowing" analogy. I especially like the last stanza because I feel like it is really relatable and calming.
