You say you
“Love”
me
But do you really know what
love
means?
It’s easy to believe those words
When you have
No idea
What it means
Those words of a
Diseased person
Words full of
Lies
False hope
And broken promises
Cursing the people you
“Love”
Is normal
It’s normal
Confused
at how
one second
You are the
Person who conquered
The world
And another
You are an animal
Grunting with anger
You show how you really feel
But you deny it
But if you didn’t mean it
Then why would you say it?
You say you need it
It helps relieve the pain
Because were the people
That drive you insane
We’re the “best” things
That happened to you
But how can we believe that
When we
“Ruined your life”
Do you love me?
You say you do
Your actions prove you wrong
I want to believe you
But how can I?
I feel nothing
You say you
“Love “
me
But do you really know what
love
means?
the rhythm of the poem reflected the desperation and panicked emotions that many people who are plagued with love often feel. The repetition of lines really emphasized your main idea well.
ReplyDeleteI really like the repetition of do you "love" me and the use of quotation marks. I think this has a really strong message and my favorite part is the use of enjambment.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of enjambment! I think it highlights the feelings of tension and distrust on your poem. One of my stanzas is
ReplyDelete"You say you
'Love'
me
But do you really know what
love
means?"
Through the poem, you portray the feelings of betrayal very well, and as a result, I think any reader can relate to that feeling shown in your poem. Great job!
I like the use of quotations around the certain words and phrases in your poem. It really brings focus towards this word and the meaning behind the phases.
ReplyDeleteI love the repetition of the first stanza as the last stanza. It gave the poem unity. My favorite lines were "You are an animal
ReplyDeleteGrunting with anger" because I liked how this revealed more about who "you" is as a character. I think that the questions throughout the poem also make the reader more curious.
