A Runner's Oath

A Runner's Oath

Pounding feet against the ground.
A beating heart.
Hard breathing.
The fire of a thousand men.

Abandon all thoughts.
Ignore feelings.
Let the trails you travel,
Provide the destination.

Surrender to the wind around you.
Let it carry you,
Embrace you,
Fill you with everything,
You may desire.

Find tranquility in discord.
The determination in abandonment.
For pain,

Is the best teacher.

  1. I really like how you relate the Tao to something that's a part of your everyday life. Rather than making it seem like it's impossible to embrace or grasp, you make it a lot more realistic by writing a poem about something most of us do daily or weekly.

  2. I really like how you presented the emotion in this poem. It is very descriptive and I love the use of this language.
