A wise man is always at peace
As it is the natural way
Others’ stresses increase
But a wise man keeps it at bay
The world collapses around him
Yet he remains undisturbed
Others are destroyed by desire and whim
Yet he is not perturbed
Control is an illusion
Ego’s creation
A wise man comes to this conclusion
As others are plagued by fixation
Surrender to life
And you will reach your destination
A life of strife
Constantly seeking affirmation
Is a waste of a gift
Fools seek control
Living lives that aren’t whole

I enjoyed the rhymes that were there, they didn't seem forced at all and helped the poem flow really naturally.
ReplyDeletevery reminiscent of the tao te ching, especially the part about giving in and going with the flow. I like the ending line especially
ReplyDeleteI love that you utilized some rhyming in the poem! It gave it a unique spin that is not seen in most of the poem. The subject is very well connected to the Tao Te Ching, which shows you have good comprehension of it.
