He always keeps to himself, so he is unknown to all others
He never explores the world beyond, so he is always confined
He only has one friend: himself
But, inside he is free
But, inside he is free
He can do whatever he pleases free of all judgement from others
In absence of worries and fear, he lives in an eternal state of peace
In absence of worries and fear, he lives in an eternal state of peace
Happy and calm, he falls asleep
She is always sociable and making new friends
Her friends guide her on a constant adventure throughout the world
She has too many friends to count
But, inside she is in fear
She always does what pleases others and leaves no time for herself
But, inside she is in fear
She always does what pleases others and leaves no time for herself
She does only what is vogue for she is wary of judgment from her friends
Tired from a day full of amusement, she falls asleep
In his dreams, he thinks of her
She is infinitely more popular and gregarious than him
She an eternity of fun activities in her life
He wishes he was not as lonely
He wishes he was not as lonely
All he wants is to be more like her
In her dreams, she thinks of him
He is infinitely more relaxed and untroubled than her
He has an eternity of time to himself
He has an eternity of time to himself
She wishes she was not as stressed
All she wants is to be more like him
All she wants is to be more like him

I love the way you split the stanzas up also relate to the message of the poem. It gives the poem even more depth. Very well done!
ReplyDeleteI thought that your poem was both extremely well thought out and well written. I like how you incorporated the meaning of yin and yang into the poem. You made the man person seem yin, but on this inside, he was actually yang (while the opposite for the girl). This significant because it represents the inevitable balance of the Tao.
