Shooting Star

The key to self-confidence
Is the ability to believe in yourself
In your dreams, aspirations, motivations, friendships
Everything

There is a key hidden under your pillow
Take it off, and you will find a box
When you open the box, there it will be
Your recipe for success
For fame
To have it all

But, don’t let the road be easy
Let yourself fall
And hope that those you love
Will reach their hand down
And pull you up

Close your ears to all of the noise
“You can’t do it”
“Stop, it’s not worth it”
Because it is
You are worth it

Let your success rain like a thunderstorm
The drops of memories and moments
All leading up to that one bolt of lightning
Striking the world
With your talent

You are everything you need
You are your soldier
You are your army
You are the flame within the fire

They call you a fighter
Like you’ve been through a World War
Except, the only war that you’ve won is the one against yourself

Take that victory
Keep your head up
And let the confidence
And essence of your true self

Shine like a shooting star
In the universe

Because you are worth it
Because I believe in you

And that’s all you’ll ever need

  1. I really like how calm and smooth your poem is written Mira! It uses lots of metaphors to make the reader connect to the text.

  5. I like how this isn't about the Tao in as much of an abstract sense. I don't know if you were getting at this, but I like how you imply that embracing yourself is what embracing the Tao is about.

  6. I love the description and imagery in your poem, and how you indirectly explain the Tao through metaphors and other themes.
